Messaging Terms
How text messaging works in Roster, written first for the workers who receive the messages.
The short version. A staffing agency uses Roster to text you about shifts you might want to work. These are work messages, not advertising. Reply STOP to any message to stop them permanently. Reply HELP for help. Message and data rates may apply.
Who is actually texting you
Roster is software. The messages come from the staffing agency you work with, sent from their own phone number, using Roster to do it. The agency chooses who to contact and what to say. Roster delivers it.
That means the agency’s name appears in the message, and the agency is who to call with questions about a shift, a schedule, or your pay. We can help with the messaging itself, but we do not know your assignment.
What kinds of messages we send
These are transactional, operational messages tied to work. Specifically:
- Shift offers. An open role with the date, time, venue and pay rate, and a link to claim it.
- Confirmations. Acknowledgement that you got a shift you claimed.
- Reminders. Call time and location before a shift starts.
- Changes and cancellations. When an event moves or is called off.
- Waitlist updates. When a spot opens on a shift you asked about.
We do not send marketing or promotional messages, and Roster is not built to send them. No advertising, no offers, no third-party promotions.
How consent works
You are in this system because you have a working relationship with the agency and gave them your mobile number for work purposes. The agency is required by our Terms of Service to have obtained your consent to text you about work, and to be able to document it, before loading your number into Roster.
Consent to receive shift texts is never a condition of being hired or staffed. If you would rather be contacted another way, tell the agency and reply STOP here.
How often
Message frequency varies with how much work is available and how much you are working. In a typical week that is a handful of messages. During a busy event period it can be more, because each open shift is one offer. There is no fixed schedule and no recurring broadcast.
How to stop the messages
Reply to any message with any of these words, and we will stop texting you:
STOP UNSUBSCRIBE QUIT CANCEL END REMOVE STOPALL OPTOUT
It takes effect immediately and it is permanent. You will not receive further shift messages from that agency through Roster unless you ask them to add you back.
You do not have to use the exact words above. If you tell us to stop in your own words, that request is flagged for a person at the agency to action. The keywords are simply the fastest and most reliable route, because they are handled automatically.
Opting out of texts does not remove you from the agency’s worker pool, and it does not cancel a shift you already claimed. It stops the messages. Contact the agency directly if you also want to be taken off their roster, or if you need to drop a shift.
How to get help
Reply HELP to any message and you will get a reply with the agency’s name and phone number. You can also email ryan@rhinorosters.com for anything about the messaging itself. For questions about a shift, your schedule or your pay, contact the agency.
What it costs you
Roster is free for workers. We never charge you anything. Message and data rates may apply depending on your mobile plan. Standard text messaging rates from your carrier are the only cost involved, and if your plan includes unlimited texting there is no cost at all.
Delivery is not guaranteed
Text messages travel over carrier networks we do not control. Carriers filter, delay and occasionally block messages. Neither the agency nor Roster can guarantee that a message arrives or arrives on time.
Mobile carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. If a shift matters to you, confirm it with the agency rather than relying on a text.
Privacy
Your mobile number is used to text you about work and nothing else. We do not sell your personal information, and we never share your mobile number or your consent status with any third party for their marketing purposes. Numbers are shared only with our message delivery provider, and only to deliver the message.
Full detail, including what we collect and how to request deletion, is in the Privacy Policy.
If you are an agency using Roster
These are obligations, not suggestions. Carrier registration depends on them.
- Collect and retain documented consent before you load a number.
- Send only operational, work-related messages. No marketing, ever.
- Identify your business by name in your message templates.
- Never re-add a worker who opted out unless they asked you to.
- Review the flagged replies queue. Opt-out requests expressed in plain language, not keywords, land there and are your responsibility to action.
- Register your brand and campaign in the legal name of the entity that operates your business, matching your EIN records.
